The 2023 Ford Bronco Placed Third in Best Seat Study Post

When it comes to choosing a new vehicle, there are many factors to consider, from performance to technology. But one often overlooked aspect of car ownership is the comfort of the seats. After all, you’ll be spending a significant amount of time sitting in them during your daily commute or road trips. That’s where the J.D. Power U.S. Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study comes in, and the 2023 Ford Bronco has some exciting news to share.

The 2023 Ford Bronco Scores High in J.D. Power’s 2023 U.S. Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study

Last year, the Ford Bronco Sport earned a respectable third place in its segment in J.D. Power’s 2022 U.S. Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study. This study measures seat quality based on the number of problems and level of satisfaction experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership. A lower score reflects higher seat quality. This year, the spotlight has shifted from the Bronco Sport to its larger sibling, the Ford Bronco.

In the 2023 edition of the J.D. Power U.S. Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study, the Ford Bronco, despite belonging to the small/compact SUV segment (a segment it doesn’t entirely fit into), secured an impressive third-place ranking. The Bronco’s seats, designed by Lear Corporation, earned a score of 6.9 PP100. While not taking the top spot, this is a notable achievement for the Bronco.

The only SUVs to outperform the Bronco in terms of seat quality were the Chevrolet Equinox, also boasting Lear Corporation-designed seats, with an impressive score of 5.2, and the Kia Niro with seats from Daewon Sanup Co., earning a score of 6.4 in this study.

The J.D. Power U.S. Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study collected responses from 93,380 purchasers and lessees of new 2023 model-year vehicles. It was conducted from February through May 2023. Interestingly, the study revealed that one of the challenges for mass-market brands like Ford is the absence of certain seat-related features commonly found in luxury vehicles, such as memory settings and power-adjustable seats. These features contribute significantly to seat satisfaction among new vehicle owners.

Ashley Edgar, senior director of global automotive supplier benchmarking and alternative mobility at J.D. Power, explained, “The mass market segment trends follow that of premium… mass market brands have the ability to benchmark what premium brands do well, and as the automotive industry continues to innovate, this is an opportunity to deliver seat features in a more intuitive, less problematic way.”

The Bronco Features Plenty of Space and Interior Comforts

Beyond seat quality, the 2023 Ford Bronco offers versatility in terms of cargo space. The two-door Bronco provides 22.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats, expanding to 52.3 cubic feet with the seats folded. The four-door Bronco, with even more space, boasts 35.6 cubic feet of room behind its rear seats, expanding to a whopping 77.6 cubic feet with the seats folded down.

Inside, the Ford Bronco offers a comfortable and spacious cabin. The front seats are well-cushioned and supportive, with ample headroom and legroom for taller occupants. The rear seats can accommodate adults comfortably. They also feature two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the outbound seats, as well as a tether anchor for the middle seat. It’s easy to use, so you can secure your most precious cargo—your child—in their safety seat.
