2023 Ford Edge vs 2023 Hyundai Palisade

The Palisade may be a popular model, but compared to the Ford Edge, it seems to be missing out on quite a lot. If you want a decent amount of standard safety features, an accommodating interior, and a performance-centered design, you’re sure to love the 2023 Ford Edge.

Performance

Two distinct engine types make it possible to find a Ford Edge that fits your lifestyle. The standard 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost engine gives you 250 horsepower, but upgrading to the 2.7L Turbocharged EcoBoost engine will get you 335 horsepower. But other than being able to choose the level of strength you want, there are additional features meant to tune your ride with greater acceleration, handling, precision, and stopping power. That includes front and rear vented disc brakes, a radiator cooling fan, vented brake shields, auto Start-Stop technology, and an Intelligent All-Wheel Drive System. By including the Class II TrailerTow Package, the new Ford Edge can tow up to 3,500!

The new Hyundai Palisade only has a 291-horsepower engine option which is in between what the Edge has to offer. That means there’s not as much flexibility in choosing the amount of power that’s sufficient and practical for your needs. Plus, the Palisade only has a maximum of 27 mpg, but the Edge offers as much as 28 highway miles per gallon. You also won’t find as much dedication in the craft and available driving enhancements.

Safety & Features

Ford Co-Pilot360 comes standard in all new Ford Edge models, and the package typically includes pre-collision automatic braking and a lane-keeping system. You can also make use of the auto high beam headlamps, rearview camera, and adaptive cruise control. For enhanced vision, you can utilize the enhanced Bi-LED headlamps and available fog lamps. The new Palisade makes use of the Hyundai SmartSense package that includes very similar safety and driver-assist features which makes these contenders almost neck-and-neck. However, everyone knows that Ford models are built to withstand more and so we have to give the point over to the new Edge. After all, accidents are always possible even with the help and guidance of driver-assist features. That’s why Ford has your back with a durable build on top of giving you this useful tech.

Interior

The new Ford Edge is noticeably more spacious with incredible headroom and legroom. For the front row, you have 40.2 inches of overhead space and 42.6 inches for your feet to breathe. You also have more space available in the center console thanks to the vertical orientation of the 12-inch infotainment screen. This design choice is great for allowing more space, but it’s also excellent for viewing your media and information in a more user-friendly way. The rotary gear shift dial continues to add to the immense white space as opposed to the traditional stick, and the rear is just as accommodating with a maximum cargo capacity of 73.4 cubic feet. The red stitching throughout the leather trim is a nice touch for some personality.

The Palisade’s interior is rather basic in terms of accommodations and can feel a bit small next to the Ford Edge. The infotainment screen is a 12.3-inch, but it might be more difficult to use compared to the Edge’s vertical layout. You get wireless device charging, ventilated seating, and dual-zone temperature control. Another aspect that may sway your decision is the fact that the Palisade has an available Harman Kardon 12-speaker setup while you can get a B&O 12-speaker system in the Edge. If you know anything about sound quality, you’ll most likely prefer the B&O option for a more dynamic and immersive experience every time you enjoy music in the car.

Bottom Line

It may seem like a close battle, but after reviewing the finer details, we’ve come to the conclusion that the new 2023 Ford Edge is a better-quality ride. With two distinct engine options to choose from, a safer ride in both technology and build quality, and a roomy interior, the Palisade just can’t keep up.
