Ford Starts Deliveries of F-150 Lightning. When to Expect Yours Post

Since Ford first unveiled its exciting entry into the electric vehicle market, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lighting, in 2021, people have been anxiously awaiting its arrival into their garages and driveways. The day has finally come, as Ford started shipping models last month. But when should you expect yours? Here’s what you need to know about the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning rollout.

The F-150 Lightning Is Here

The Ford F-150 Lightning is on its way to dealers and customers across the country, with the first units shipping from the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center on May 16, 2022. Demand for this incredible vehicle is through the roof, as Ford announced in mid-April that the entire Lightning lineup is sold out for 2022. In total, there are 200,000 reservations for the 2022 Lightning, and Ford’s CEO expects 80% of those reservations to convert to sales.

Ford is planning for an annual production rate of 150,000 F-150 Lightnings by the end of next year. This year’s production is expected to be limited to 40,000. In short, if you didn’t reserve your own Lightning, you’ll likely have to wait at least a year to get one.

What’s so special about the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning?

Many people in the auto industry, and casual truck fans alike, are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning? Aside from being an all-electric vehicle that requires no gasoline, there’s a lot to love about this incredible truck. Here are just a few of the reasons why the Lightning is set to revolutionize both the EV and truck segments:

  • Incredible Power: The F-150 Lightning comes standard with an almost unbelievable amount of power. It works with two electric motors and a single battery, achieving 563 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. Whether you’re driving on the highway, towing cargo, or heading up hills, you’ll have plenty of power underfoot.
  • Impressive Towing Capacity: The Lightning has a towing capacity of up to 10,000 pounds, which means it can haul trailers, boats, vehicles, and more. With the available options like the Pro Trailer Hitch, Smart Hitch, Trailer Reverse Guidance, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist, it’s easier than ever to drive while towing cargo.
  • Plenty of Cargo Space: Since electric vehicles don’t have engines, it frees up space in the front of the vehicle for cargo. The Lightning’s “frunk,” or front trunk, has a volume of close to 14 cubic feet, so you have plenty of space to store just about anything.
