Electric Ford Lightning vs. Hummer

2022 Ford Lightning

2022 FORD F150 LIGHTNING VS 2022 GMC HUMMER EV

Finding the perfect heavy-duty truck for your towing and driving needs requires patience and time. Of course, many people know the truck they want, but it’s always important to take the time to look around when it comes time to shop. You want to be sure you’re making the right investment in your driving future, after all. At Essential Ford of Stuart, we are here to help you find the truck to fit your needs.

During your search for your next truck, you may never have thought you would buy electric, but that time has come! With the release of the 2022 Ford F150 Lightning and the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, the truck world has officially gone electric! If you’re considering making the switch away from gas, we want you to know how each of these trucks stacks up against the other. Your friendly team at Essential Ford of Stuart has put together this comprehensive comparison to help in your search for an electric truck.

Design
The quintessential all-American pickup truck is rooted far more in practicality than its competition. As a result, the Lightning looks more like a conventional truck than an electrified vehicle. If it weren’t for the LED headlights, you might never realize it’s not an internal combustion-powered pickup.

Whereas the new and revamped Hummer looks like something out of the future. With its boxy shape that harkens back to the H2, the Hummer is built for rugged off-road terrain but more street-focused with this new design and release. There’s even a convertible truck option, which in that case, is it a truck anymore?

Cabin Features
With the traditional crew cab look and feel, the Lightning holds up to at least five adults with a high-quality, state-of-the-art 12-inch digital display for the driver. As well as a second horizontal display for the infotainment center. And with the 10-way adjustable front seats, eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, and leather interior, it feels more luxurious than industrial.

While the Hummer EV is more of an upscale off-roading vehicle, there are still some exciting features and luxuries within its cabin. This includes a 13.4-inch center infotainment touchscreen, removable roof panels, high-definition surround vision cameras, and more.

Towing
The Lightning still packs a towing punch with a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds in the bed for an electric truck. Plus, a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds that’s similar to the standard F-150. Talk about being able to tow just about anything. This is one electric vehicle that can tackle any job and is built Ford tough.

However, GMC has not yet released the towing and payload figures for the Hummer EV. There is only speculation on what the towing capacity will be. We know that the Hummer EV will have a front trunk designed to hold the removable roof panels.
