Across its 14 generations, the iconic Ford F-150 is consistently among the top-selling vehicles in the US. Fully redesigned for the 2021 model year, the F-150 showcased an all-new front end with bolder grille options, redesigned headlights, partial LED headlight surrounds, and new bumpers. The upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 is getting additional upgrades, including the return of the Raptor, numerous trim levels, Tremor Package, and much more.

Power & Style

The all-new 2022 Ford F-150 will offer 2.7-liter, 3.5-liter, and 5.0-liter gasoline powertrains as well as diesel and gasoline engine options. A 3.3-liter and 3.0-liter turbodiesel variants are also available. And the F-150 Hybrid is an excellent option. Plus, in the works is an all-electric powertrain. Ford’s newer 10-speed automatic transmission is standard. The F-150 is the best payload capacity of any light-duty full-size pickup truck, rated to haul up to 3,325 pounds. Towing capacity tops out at 14,000 pounds. The 2022 design is very modern and with a more aggressive look. The bumper is bolder and slightly wider with a larger grille and headlights, however, the pickup’s size won’t change.

Cab & Bed Options

The 2022 F-150 offers three different cab and bed options and can be combined in various configurations. The basic Regular Cab offers seating for three and the SuperCab ups capacity to five or six, while the SuperCrew model keeps that seating and gives a more spacious second row. The 5.5-, 6.5-, and 8.0-foot bed lengths deliver 52.8, 62.3, and 77.4 cubic feet of cargo volume (figures from 2021 models). Regardless of length, all of the F-150’s bed options measure 51.1 inches across and 21.4 inches deep between the wheel wells.

Truck Tech

Interior technology in the 2022 F-150 will mostly go unchanged. Still, expect Ford’s standard SYNC® 4 user interface with over-the-air update capability as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Also included are standard USB ports as well as an available wireless charging pad and Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to 10 devices at a time up to 50 feet away from the vehicle. The FordPass Connect smartphone app allows remote monitoring and control of the F-150. Some F-150 models boast the Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with 18 speakers, including some in the front headrests.

High-End Safety Features

Standard F-150 driver-assist and safety highlights include front automatic emergency braking, brake auto-hold, automatic high beams and windshield wipers, and hill start assist. Added on mid-range and high-end trim levels are blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Also available is the Co-Pilot 360 Assist 2.0 suite that adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, emergency evasive steering, and intersection collision avoidance. Buyers can opt for semi-autonomous parking assist, adaptive steering, blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alerts, parking sensors, automatic emergency rear braking, adaptive cruise control, and surround-view cameras.

The Raptor Returns

After a year off, the F-150 Raptor is back. The 2022 Raptor will boast a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and will introduce a powerful 5.2-liter V8 supercharged engine. It will also see its payload and towing capacity increase by 200 pounds to 1,400 pounds and 8,200 pounds, respectively. With its extra-long trailing arms, the Raptor will tackle terrain in addition to its 24-inch rear coil springs, FOX Live Valve internal-bypass shocks, and more. It will get all the key updates to the base F-150 and enhance them with its unique Ford mesh grille, power dome hood with a new heat extractor, steel bumpers, 17-inch off-road wheels, knobby tires, more aggressive fenders, blacked-out headlights and taillights, a wider front skid plate, and functional side vents.

The 2022 Ford F-150 is expected to arrive in the fall. The price will once again start at around $31,000 for the base trim level. Contact your Essential Ford dealership to help you select and reserve your F-150 2022 at (772) 212-9954.
