The all-new Mustang Mach-E, named the 2021 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, is sleek and sporty with innovative technology, zero vehicle emissions, and wide range. The Mach-E offer four models, seven exterior colors, and three drive modes with MSRP starting at $42,895. Find out what some of the nation’s top auto critics have to say about Ford’s first all-electric crossover.

High Style, High Tech

Car & Driver calls out the Mach-E’s attention-grabbing design, handsome and hushed cabin, and immediate acceleration. It also notes the two available battery sizes with either rear- or all-wheel drive. Providing up to 305 miles of driving range, helping the Mach-E earn an Editors’ Choice award, Car & Driver writes that the five-passenger cabin is fitted with contemporary features. They list the next-generation SYNC® infotainment system with machine learning to fully customize each driver’s experience, the vertically mounted 15.5-inch touchscreen for apps and features, over-the-air updates, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Interior Design

“A floating, flip-up armrest on the center console allows a purse or other items to be stored between the front-seat passengers,” writes Car & Driver. “There are also many slick features that include customizable ambient interior lighting, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, and more.” Car & Driver also emphasizes the durable front trunk that can be rinsed and then drained, allowing for storage of ice and messy things. Plus, they say, “The Mach-E’s battery is located under the floor of the car, which allows for maximum cargo and passenger space… [as well as] 29 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and up to 60 with the back seats folded.”

Innovative Safety Features

“The Mustang Mach-E has front and knee airbags for both front passengers, as well as side curtain airbags for both rows,” writes MotorTrend. They also applaud the driver-assistive features that include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist with lane centering, automatic evasive steering, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic reverse braking, and automatic high beams.

Go Premium

“Figuring out the Mustang Mach-E’s trim levels and configurations can take some time; there’s no bad choice, but we suggest going with the Premium trim,” writes Edmunds. “It comes with lots of convenience and luxury features and gives you the most flexibility in picking a powertrain.” Echoing that, Car & Driver says, “We’d choose the Premium model. It’s rated at 305 miles of driving range when paired with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, but we’d still choose the all-wheel-drive version, which knocks its estimated range down to 270 miles. Compared with the base model, the Mach-E Premium has more powerful fast-charging capability, 19-inch wheels, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and a power liftgate.”
