Powerful Engine Options
The new 2024 Ford Explorer is available with a wide variety of engine options to meet drivers’ needs. A turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine comes standard, and it pumps out an impressive 300 hp and 310 lb.-ft of torque. One of the SUV’s most interesting new features for 2024 is the inclusion of an automatic stop/restart function for this engine which saves a significant amount of fuel while idling.
Limited and Platinum models come with a more powerful, fuel-friendly hybrid engine. It uses a naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V6 engine with an electric motor to produce a combined total of 318 hp. And, finally, the 2024 Ford Explorer ST gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that delivers up to 400 hp. Aside from these engines, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is also planned for future models.
A Refreshed Exterior
Ford’s giving the 2024 Explorer a modern facelift. While the automaker has yet to fully reveal the 2024 model to the press or the public, expect to see major changes in the front and rear. Early reports highlight changes to the headlights, taillights, grille, and bumpers. The top-tier ST variant will get the most upgrades, featuring a sportier look thanks to many modifications. The Blue Oval is set to introduce numerous optional appearance packages, too, so Explorer buyers can get the look they want from their new ride.
