Recently Ford unveiled the all-new 2022 Ford Expedition during the Motor Bella auto show in Pontiac, Michigan. And to say that Ford’s flagship SUV has some significant changes coming our way is the understatement of the year! With things like new trims, technology, and beefier engines, you’ll be surprised to find out what’s in store with the 2022 Ford Expedition before it hits the streets of Stuart.
Your friends at Essential Ford of Stuart wanted to dive into our top five favorite features of the 2022 Ford Expedition with you today! Note: Pricing for the 2022 Expedition is unknown, and Ford says it will land in the dealership lots in the Winter of 2022.
Engine & Towing Capacity
Let’s start with the most important feature, of course! The 2022 Expedition comes with a 3.5-liter GTDI engine, and the two-wheel-drive version has a towing capacity of 9,300 pounds. Which is something that Ford likes to point out is 900 pounds more than the 5.3-liter V-8 engine on the Tahoe, which is rated at 8,400 pounds.
Trim-Specific Styling
With the recently unveiled 2022 Toyota Tundra, we saw a trend that features unique grilles for each trim and color option—the Expedition features a similar trim-specific design styling. It will have new mesh-style grilles with chrome accents and standard dual exhaust pipes that turn heads as well!
Timberline Trim Gets the Beefiest Engine Of All
Ford said that the off-road Timberline would be coming to the Explorer, and it’s going to be a big part of the Expedition lineup too! And why not when the Timberline trim makes the Expedition the most off-road capable model year ever, thanks to 10.6-inches of ground clearance. The Timberline has Ford’s high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, which adds power like never before thanks to 440-horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque.
Stealth Mode
The 2022 Expedition has a pretty sleek and cool new package that comes with it. The Stealth Edition Performance Package gets Ford’s high-output EcoBoost engine to match Timberline’s power output. And features things like sports gloss-black features, including the grille, mirror caps, rear bumper skid plate, roof rails, tailgate appliqué, fog lamp bezels, and running boards, as well as headlamp and taillamp housings. The most distinctive feature will be the red brake calipers on 22-inch premium black aluminum wheels.
Blue Cruise and Sync 4 Technology
The Blue Cruise hands-free driving technology will initially be available on the Expedition Platinum. Ford’s Sync 4 system is standard with every trim level and comes with a 12.4-inch, high-definition digital cluster. And don’t forget the other exciting technology and luxury features like the 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system that comes with a 360-degree surround sound, which will be available on Platinum, Expedition King Ranch, Timberline, and Stealth Performance Edition trim levels.
