The 2022 Ford Mustang Receives Major Awards
Not only is the Ford Mustang the best-selling sports coupe for the seventh year in a row, but it’s also the best-selling sports car in terms of global sales. According to Ford’s data, the U.S. represents 76% of the global market for the Mustang, and other markets, including New Zealand, Brazil, and South Korea saw major growth in Mustang sales in 2021.
What’s New With the 2022 Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang enters the 2022 model year with exciting new special editions, including the Coastal Edition, Stealth Edition, California Special, and Ice White Edition Appearance Package. The Heritage Edition is available for Ford’s legendary Mustang Shelby GT500. While the special edition models don’t offer extra power, they feature plenty of styling updates, including unique color combinations, vinyl accents, and special badging.
2022 Ford Mustang Trim Levels
With a starting price of $28,600, the 2022 Ford Mustang is an affordable sports coupe with plenty of power and special features. While all models are fun to drive, Ford’s come up with several trim packages to up the excitement. Trim levels include:
- EcoBoost: EcoBoost is the Mustang’s most basic trim level, and it comes in two styles—the fastback and the convertible. It features a 10-speed automatic transmission and a 310 hp, 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder engine.
- EcoBoost Premium: Like the EcoBoost trim level, the EcoBoost Premium comes in either a fastback or convertible. It features the same engine and transmission as the EcoBoost, but offers upscale features like heated and ventilated seats, as well as a larger infotainment screen.
- GT: Power is the biggest upgrade in the GT, as it offers a 5.0-liter V8 engine that puts out 460 hp. It also stands out with a distinctive look, featuring a gloss grill surrounded by LED headlamps on either side.
- GT Premium: The GT Premium has nearly identical performance components to the GT, but interior features like selectable drive modes, a premium Sync 3 infotainment system, and a unique body layout set this ride apart from the rest.
- Mach 1: The Mach 1 is Ford’s top-notch Mustang, featuring impressive upgrades like RECARO cloth sports seats, an electronic locking center console, push-button start, and much more. In terms of performance, you get the Mach 1 handling package, independent rear suspension, and a Magneride damping system to ensure a thrilling, yet pleasant and smooth ride, every time you get behind the wheel.
