2025 Ford Mustang GTD vs 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The world of supercars is like witnessing a battle of wits combined with pure strength. It takes creativity, willpower, and a stellar reputation to create a ride that will turn heads throughout the car community. Where should you focus your attention this time? Let us tell you why the new 2025 Ford Mustang GTD deserves a place on the highest pedestal:

Performance

Let’s get the most exciting news out first, mostly because we can’t wait to say it. The new 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is capable of breaking 800 horsepower which is made possible with a supercharged 5.2L V8 engine. That alone is enough to celebrate, but there’s much more to the Mustang GTD that you absolutely have to know, like how it’s able to achieve over 190 MPH. It’s all in the build, meticulously crafted with lightweight carbon fiber components and intuitive driving features that greatly enhance handling and overall performance, such as:

  • Semi-active suspension
  • C-pillar-mounted rear wing
  • Hydraulic control system
  • lightweight driveshaft
  • Dry sump oil system
  • Titanium Akrapovic exhaust
  • Front fender vents
  • Brembo anti-lock brakes

People often identify Porsche as the pinnacle of supercars, but the new 911 GT3 RS may leave you second-guessing after seeing what the latest Mustang has put out. This anticipated Porsche carries a much smaller 4.0L engine capping at 518 horsepower. That’s rather underwhelming after just hearing about the Mustang GTD’s ability to surpass 800. Even taking a closer look at the build, it’s easy to wonder where all the time and money was spent. There’s a large rear spoiler, a rear diffuser, a central stabilizer fin, and vortex generators, but that’s not nearly enough to make up for what the Mustang GTD has. This Porsche 911 can’t even make it past 184 MPH whereas Ford’s new supercar can exceed 190. When you compare the hard stats, it’s really just simple math.

Safety Features

Safety may be crucial in a high-performance vessel like a supercar, but it’s almost never on the forefront of people’s minds when all they’re craving is speed and adrenaline. That’s why you won’t find as many features as a family-friendly SUV, but Ford still offers what you need for contentious driving in the new Mustang GTD. It comes standard with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Departure Warning, and Lane-Keeping Assist which are all especially helpful for joy rides on the freeway. Something rather unique to the lineup is the available Active Pothole Mitigation feature in the Performance package, which is pretty thoughtful of Ford considering the Mustang’s high-speed nature.

Being a competing supercar, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Porsche 911 GT3 RS shared similar standard safety features to assist in more responsible driving. Driver-assist features that prioritize lane management make the most sense for high-speed vessels, so we hope that Porsche follows suit. What we’re not really anticipating, though, is a unique feature like Ford’s pothole mitigation system. Only time will tell, but the bottom line is that you won’t find many differences in this category.

Interior

When you imagine the inside of a Mustang, it’s easy to picture an extremely sporty interior that invites a thrilling drive. You can expect nothing less in the new Mustang GTD. The 2025 model will feature RECARO sporty bucket seats with the entire cabin blending leather, suede, and carbon fiber to really hammer in the Mustang’s authenticity. Adding that Ford originality, the paddle shifters are 3D-printed using titanium resources that have been repurposed from a real jet engine, giving you something to brag about to your friends. The 12.4-inch instrument cluster displays all of your car’s info in large, crystal-clear quality. What’s even more impressive is the 13.2-inch infotainment display which is much larger than we usually see.

After reviewing information on the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, we were taken aback by the design choices made and how long it took to implement basic functions. The brand chose this opportunity to finally get into the “push to start” game, and you are expected to use QR codes to log in to your infotainment screen. It almost feels as though someone who is a little behind in the times is running the show, and that’s never a good idea.

We also find it strange that you can use the Porsche’s infotainment screen (which is 10.9 inches, mind you) to stream videos while you’re parked. If you use this feature out in public, any stranger walking by can see what you’re watching which can feel like an invasion of privacy. The reason why we love our phones is because it’s a personal gadget that offers an intimate experience, and so Porsche owners will likely stick to their devices.

Bottom Line

To get most people on board with the new 2025 Ford Mustang GTD, all you would need to do is mention 800+ horsepower. All of the Ford-specific features are a welcome bonus to an already stellar ride. For the price, we believe that Porsche needs to work on the 911 a little more to be truly groundbreaking.
