2021 Ford Escape 2021 Honda CR-V Esential Ford of Stuart

2021 FORD ESCAPE VS 2021 HONDA CR-V

Mid-sized SUVs have become one of the most popular types of vehicles on the roads around Stuart. Both Ford and Honda are two of the leading manufacturers globally, and it's no surprise that their SUVs have a reputation for being dependable, long-lasting vehicles. So, it's only natural to wonder what would happen when you put the 2021 Ford Escape and the 2021 Honda CR-V head-to-head in a battle of epic proportions. And that's precisely what we're going to do today! Are you ready?

While both of these SUVs appear like they match up on the surface, there are areas where one of them stands above the other. And it's in those areas, the specs and performance benefits of one over the other are prominent. So today, we're going to take you through a complete comparison between these two SUVs so that you can see for yourself which one is best for you, and when the Ford Escape is established as the clear-cut winner, visit our showroom at Essential Ford of Stuart to take one for a test drive!

Powertrain & Performance

The Escape comes with a standard 1.5-liter, three-cylinder engine with 181. However, Ford wins the power competition with an available 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out a whopping 250-horsepower. And if you're looking for a gas-saving option, there is a hybrid option with a 2.5-liter engine that puts out 200-horsepower. And speaking of gas mileage, the Escape beats out the CR-V here, especially with the 44-mpg highway that comes in the hybrid Escape. Whereas the CR-V only gets 40 mpg on the highway.

Under the hood of the CR-V, you'll find a standard 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces up to 190-horsepower. In addition, the CR-V gets a 2-speed continuously variable transmission with overdrive. There is an upgrade option on the CR-V that comes with the hybrid, which puts out 212-horsepower. But comparatively, the horses under the hood of the CR-V just don't match up unless you're paying more, and even then, it still doesn't hold up.

Drivability

The ride quality in the Escape is durable and smooth, while the CR-V offers a bit better suspension and less engine noise. But the Escape has a pretty solid suspension system that gives you the ability to tackle some light off-road activities, whereas the CR-V just doesn't offer this type of versatility.

Interior

With Ford's high-tech Sync3 Infotainment system, you get a step up from the CR-V technology features. In the Escape, there's a larger 8-inch touchscreen and a separate 12.3-inch driver-information screen. And if you spring for the Titanium trim package, you'll get a premium audio system from Bang &0lufsen with a total of 10 speakers.

But the Honda CR-V offers plenty of technology for entertainment and convenience, even if it doesn't match up to the Escape. For better technology features, you have to pay to upgrade your trim package while the Sync3 system comes standard in every Escape.

Safety Features

Driver safety is premium with the Escape, which features a rear-view camera, Evasive Steering Assist, and Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, too, that all come standard. And with the Co-Pilot 360 safety suite, you'll have pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist as well.

However, in the CR-V, you'll only find a forward-collision warning system that gives you a head up to prevent accidents and a lane departure warning. After that, they don't really have standard driver safety and assistance features.

Bottom Line

While each of these SUVs offers a comfortable driving experience and unique strengths, the Escape is the clear-cut winner for your daily commutes and some light off-roading adventuring.

Here's a quick breakdown of the areas the Escape beats the CR-V:

  • Off-road capabilities and suspension.
  • Driver safety and assistance technology that comes standard.
  • Power train.
  • Standard features for the price.
  • Interior entertainment features.
  • Driver-friendly layout and design inside.

While the CR-V may offer some benefits, it still falls short where it counts most to your driving experience.
