2022 Ford Escape vs 2022 Lincoln Corsair

2022 FORD ESCAPE VS 2022 LINCOLN CORSAIR

2022 FORD ESCAPE VS 2022 LINCOLN CORSAIR

Ford is the go-to for people who want a reliable and dependable car, but Lincoln also has its fair share of fans who seek the appearance of classic luxury. But which brand offers the most practical SUV that’s worth your hard-earned cash? At Essential Ford Stuart, we’ve compared the 2022 Ford Escape and the 2022 Lincoln Corsair to answer all of your questions.

2022 FORD ESCAPE VS 2022 LINCOLN CORSAIR

While the Corsair exudes the aura of luxury, you’ll find that the new Ford Escape is pretty solid across the board. It has a bit of everything to make every ride a great one that’ll leave you with zero regrets. When it comes to a vehicle you’ll learn to love, practicality is the name of the game.

Performance

Fuel efficiency is a big deal now more than ever. Each and every mile counts when it comes to saving cash so poor mileage can be a nightmare for those with daily commutes. Thankfully, the 2022 Ford Escape has an mpg rating that’s better than most with 28 city and 34 highway miles per gallon. This is due to its 2.0L EcoBoost engine supporting 250 horsepower for smart driving. AWD Disconnect switches between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive accordingly which keeps the vehicle from overworking and consuming more gas than necessary. Adaptable drive modes can also help your fuel efficiency with modes such as Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, and Snow/Sand.

A slightly more powerful 2.3L Turbocharged engine at 295 horsepower comes with the new Lincoln Corsair, but it pays for that extra power in extra gas. With 22 city and 29 highway miles per gallon, you’ll find yourself stopping at the pump more frequently than you would in the new Escape. It’s also worth pointing out that the gear shift is located on the dash in the form of “piano keys” which can be difficult and awkward to use in the thick of it.

Safety & Features

Ford and Lincoln each have their own patented collection of safety features, both of which are designed to prevent accidents before they can happen. The 2022 Ford Escape just happens to offer a little more which you may find useful as the time comes. Corsair’s safety features tend to focus more on providing you with passive assistance while the Escape is able to take control for you such as with the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. The number of safety features in the Corsair can be a bit misleading with the addition of “1.5 Plus” in the name.

Interior

The new Ford Escape carries all of the essentials but with some noticeable upgrades. For instance, the digital instrument cluster comes in an expansive 12.3-inch screen to house all of your vital information in an easy-to-read format, and the 10-speaker setup is supported by the quality of the Bang and Olufsen brand. Alexa capability makes it easy to access all of your features with voice commands and the 4G LTE wi-fi hotspot capability can support up to ten devices which can be replenished on a wireless device charging pad.

Lincoln, on the other hand, seems to keep mistaking impractical design for innovation (an earlier example being the piano key design for the gear shifter). The designers decided to create a “floating” center control console in the Corsair that ends up protruding out and in the way when it could have just blended into the dash. On the bright side, the Corsair has ambient lighting and a panoramic vista roof.

Bottom Line

For an efficient vehicle with useful features and a practical design, the 2022 Ford Escape is the better option. The Lincoln Corsair tries too hard to meet the requirements for being considered a luxury vehicle which has led to a couple bad ideas during the design process that are hard to overlook.
